Regular Season Round 19: Kanazawa - Toyoda Gosei 81-87

Not a big story in a game in Ishikawa where 11th ranked Kanazawa (4-15) was defeated by second ranked Toyoda Gosei (15-4) 87-81 on Saturday. Toyoda Gosei shot 20 for 30 from the free-throw line, while Kanazawa only scored four points from the stripe. It was a great evening for American JD Weatherspoon (198-92, college: Toledo) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import Luke Evans (203-91, college: CBU) helped adding 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side point guard Daichi Tomioka (165-95) responded with 20 points and 4 assists and Bahamas center Gjio Bain (211-85, college: S.Mississippi) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Toyoda Gosei. They maintain second place with 15-4 record behind leader Iwate Big Bulls. Kanazawa lost their third game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 15 games lost. Toyoda Gosei will have a break next round. Kanazawa will play again at home against the league's second-placed Toyoda Gosei (#2) and hope to win that game.
