Regular Season Round 12: Orleans - Gravelines 79-64

Bottom-ranked Orleans managed to get a second victory, breaking the three-game losing streak on Saturday night. This time they won against fourteenth-ranked Gravelines 79-64. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 15-point difference suggests that Orleans is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Gravelines' 24. Orleans forced 19 Gravelines turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The winners were led by naturalized Algerian power forward Rayan Hamdi (203-99) who scored that evening 21 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Hugo Pellure (182-99) supported him with 14 points, 12 assists and 5 steals. Four Orleans players scored in double figures. Even 14 points and 6 rebounds by point guard Ismael Kherzane (186-2) did not help to save the game for Gravelines. Louis Marnette (195-1, agency: Duran International) added 15 points and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Orleans maintains eighteenth position with 2-11 record. Loser Gravelines keeps the fourteenth place with nine games lost. Orleans will meet higher ranked ASVEL (#7) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Gravelines will play against Strasbourg (#4) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
