There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Albacete (6-7) beat at home 6th ranked Barca II (6-7) 75-67 on Saturday. Albacete shot 23 for 31 from the free-throw line, while Barca II only scored four points from the stripe. It was a very good performance for American-Dominican Eddy Polanco (190-94, college: SE Louisiana) who helped to win the game recording 31 points and 5 rebounds. Power forward Samuel Rodriguez (202-97) contributed with 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Albacete players scored in double figures. Forward Jaime Fernandez (203-0) answered with 11 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Lluis Costa (187-93) added 12 points and 4 steals in the effort for Barca II. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Albacete moved-up to sixth place in Silver. Albacete will face Villarrobledo (#7) on the road in the next round. Barca II will play against La Roda and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
