Regular Season Round 10: Ardoi - Segle XXI 52-43

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Segle XXI (3-7) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Ardoi (7-3) 52-43 on Saturday. Argentinian center Diana Cabrera (184-93) fired 5 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. The former international forward Amaya Gastaminza (189-91, college: Oregon St.) chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds. Marta Suarez (188-2) produced 8 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Marta Garcia (190-2) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Ardoi moved-up to third place in Group B, which they share with Gran Canaria and Lima-Horta. Segle XXI lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with seven games lost. Ardoi will face Unicaja (#6) in Malaga in the next round. Segle XXI will play at home against Picken Claret (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
