Regular Season Round 9: Salon V. - Sykki 75-77

A very close game took place in Salo (derby !!!) between Sykki and Salon V.. Ninth ranked Sykki (3-5) got a very close victory on the road over 8th ranked Salon V. (2-6). Sykki managed to escape with a 2-point win 77-75 on Saturday evening. The best player for the winners was forward Cristian Ahokas (202-1) who scored 24 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Mikko Savolainen (196-2) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. Sykki's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Patrik Poutiainen (196-1) who recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Taneli Lindstrom (184-1) added 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sykki moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Lahti. Salon V. lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. Sykki will meet at home higher ranked Pyrinto (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Salon V. will play against Kataja (#4) and hope to secure a win.
