Regular Season Round 10: Banska Bystrica - Samorin 52-78

Bottom-ranked Samorin managed to get a third victory, breaking the two-game losing streak. This time they outleveled fourth-ranked Banska Bystrica 78-52. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 26-point difference suggests that Samorin is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. Samorin had a 26-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Samorin especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. International center Sona Svetlikova (184-99) notched 25 points and 5 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) to lead the effort and the former international guard Timea Sujova (173-84) supported her with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Even 12 points and 6 rebounds by guard Lucia Striesova (180-97, college: RMU) did not help to save the game for Banska Bystrica. Point guard Michaela Grigerova (169-98) added 7 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Banska Bystrica's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Samorin (3-9) moved-up to fourth place. Banska Bystrica at the other side dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. Samorin will play against higher ranked Young Angels (#3) in Kosice in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Banska Bystrica will play on the road against the league's leader MBK Ruzomberok and hopes to get back on the winning track.
