Regular Season Round 23: Hiroshima D. - Sendai 89ers 71-80

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Hiroshima where leader Dragonflies (19-4) were defeated by second ranked Sendai 89ers (15-8) 80-71 on Sunday. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Sendai 89ers looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: Inception Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 33 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import center Daniel Miller (211-91, college: Georgia Tech) helped adding 11 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Venezuelan center Gregory Echenique (206-90, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 18 rebounds and American power forward Jamari Traylor (203-92, college: Kansas) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Four Dragonflies players scored in double figures. Sendai 89ers keep a position of league leader which they share with defeated Dragonflies. Loser Dragonflies still keep top place with four games lost. Sendai 89ers will face league's second-placed Gunma on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Dragonflies will play against Fukuoka R. and hope to win that game.
