There was an upset when 4th placed Menorca (7-6) lost to twelfth ranked Benicarlo (3-10) in Castellon 84-91 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 91-84. Benicarlo looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a very good performance for Lithuanian forward Justinas Olechnavicius (194-94, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who helped to win the game recording 25 points. Serbian center Dusan Kostic (207-94) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Benicarlo players scored in double figures. American forward Drew Guebert (206, college: Sioux Falls, agency: Duran International) answered with 24 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import guard Garret Covington (196-94, college: W.Illinois, agency: Two Points) added 21 points in the effort for Menorca. Newly promoted Benicarlo maintains twelfth place in Silver with 3-10 record. Loser Menorca keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Benicarlo will face league's leader Girona Basquet at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Menorca will play against Gran Canaria II and hope to win that game.
