Regular Season Round 23: Koshigaya A. - Fukushima 84-77

There was a minor upset in Tokyo where 4th placed Fukushima (8-13) was defeated by sixth ranked Koshigaya A. (5-18) 84-77 on Sunday. Fukushima was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American power forward Alex Stepheson (208-87, college: USC) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 17 rebounds. American guard Charles Hinkle (198-88, college: American) helped adding 27 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Shaheed Davis (206-94, college: UCF) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and American-Jamaican forward Staphon Blair (206-93, college: UCF) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Koshigaya A. maintains sixth place with 5-18 record. Loser Fukushima keeps the fourth position with 13 games lost. Koshigaya A. will face league's leader Shinshu BW in Nagano in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fukushima will play at home against Aomori W. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
