An interesting game took place in Athens where higher ranked Sporting (4-4) was upset on its own court by ninth ranked Esperides (3-5) 65-58 on Sunday. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. The best player for the winners was center Akela Maize (196-96, college: NC State) who scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. Swingman Jasmine Gill (185-90, college: JMU, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Esperides players scored in double figures. Forward Taya Reimer (193-95, college: Michigan St.) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds and power forward Stephanie Kostowicz (188-95, college: Milwaukee, agency: Interperformances) added 22 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Esperides moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Giannena. Loser Sporting keeps the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with PAOK and Dafni Agioy. Esperides will meet at home Niki Lefkadas (#11) in the next round. Sporting will play against Giannena (#9) and hope to secure a win.
