Regular Season Round 9: DCU Mercy - Glanmire 85-72

An interesting game for DCU Mercy (8-1) which hosted in Dublin 3rd placed Glanmire (6-3). First ranked DCU Mercy managed to get a 13-point victory 85-72. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Glanmire. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when DCU Mercy made 7 blocks. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for forward Meredith Burkhall (190-97, college: Iowa St.) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 20 rebounds. Guard Ashley Russell (178, college: Pennsylvania) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Forward Tatum Neubert (188, college: Colorado St.) answered with 25 points and 7 rebounds and guard Shrita Parker (170-95, college: UNCW) added 23 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Glanmire. DCU Mercy maintains first place with 8-1 record. Glanmire at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. They share it with WIT Wildcats. DCU Mercy are looking forward to face Liffey Celtics (#7) in Kildare in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Glanmire will play against the league's second-placed Maree (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
