Regular Season Round 11: Gomel - Victoria 63-66

A very interesting game took place in Gomel. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 9th ranked Gomel-Sozh (1-9) to fifth ranked Victoria (5-6) 66-63 on Sunday evening. Victoria made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Gomel-Sozh turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for forward Yana Goliakova (182-1) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Irina Kravchenko (182-1) accounted for 13 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winning side. Ukrainian guard Nika Korinna (170-96) came up with 19 points and 9 rebounds and forward Yulia Haponova (185-94) added 11 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Gomel-Sozh in the defeat. Four Victoria and five Gomel-Sozh players scored in double figures. Victoria moved-up to fourth place. Gomel-Sozh lost their eighth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Victoria's next round opponent will be RGUOR (#8) in Minsk. Gomel-Sozh will play on the road against Olimpia in Grodno and hope to win that game.
