The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Celtics as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Celtics smashed 5th ranked Cavaliers in Boston 110-88. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Celtics made 9 blocks. The best player for the winners was forward Jayson Tatum (203-98, college: Duke) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Kemba Walker (185-90, college: UConn) chipped in 22 points and 7 assists. Five Celtics players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Canadian forward Tristan Thompson (206-91, college: Texas) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and American-Filipino guard Jordan Clarkson (196-92, college: Missouri) added 19 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Celtics have a solid four-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Cavaliers lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 18 games lost.
