Very significant was Astana's (#1, 13-1) victory against 3rd placed Tobol (10-4) 98-77. Astana made 23-of-25 free shots (92.0 percent) during the game. Astana outrebounded Tobol 44-24 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Jeremiah Hill (188-95, college: Valdosta St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Serbian center Dusan Ristic (214-95, college: Arizona, agency: BeoBasket) helped adding 20 points and 7 rebounds. Hill is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Astana players scored in double figures. The former international power forward Anton Ponomarev (210-88, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 17 points and 6 rebounds and the former international swingman Konstantin Dvirnyi (192-88) scored 15 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Astana (13-1) have an impressive series of thirteen victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place. Tobol at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
