Regular Season Round 2: Al Shamal - Al Khor 111-72

Al Khor (0-1) recorded a loss in Doha. Visitors were rolled over by Al Shamal (0-0) 111-72. Al Shamal outrebounded Al Khor 43-26 including a 29-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. American guard Aaron Mitchell (188-89, college: Longwood) orchestrated the victory by scoring 32 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Georgian point guard George Tsintsadze (192-86) contributed with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. American forward Marvin Smith (201-93, college: USC Upstate) replied with 28 points and his fellow American import guard Madarious Gibbs (185-93, college: Texas Southern) added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 13 assists in the effort for Al Khor. Five Al Shamal and four Al Khor players scored in double figures. Al Shamal's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Rayyan.
