Regular Season Round 24: Gunma - Sendai 89ers 70-66

The biggest surprise took place in Gunma where host Gunma (15-8) beat league's leader Sendai 89ers (15-9) 70-66 on Wednesday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Gunma looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Nigerian forward Abdullahi Kuso (206-84, college: Tallahassee CC) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds. Hungarian-American Rosco Allen (208-93, college: Stanford, agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Gunma players scored in double figures. Gunma's coach used entire bench in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Daniel Miller (211-91, college: Georgia Tech) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and point guard Takeshi Shingo (175-95) added 11 points and 12 assists respectively. Gunma keeps a position of league leader. Sendai 89ers at the other side dropped to the second place with nine games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Gunma. Sendai 89ers will play next round against strong Tokyo EX trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Gunma will try to continue on its current victory against first ranked Dragonflies in Hiroshima.
