Regular Season Round 15: Fujian S. - Beijing Ducks 111-107

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Beijing Ducks (11-5) against seventeenth ranked Sturgeons (4-12) on Thursday night. Visiting Beijing Ducks were defeated by Sturgeons in a tough game in Jinjiang 107-111. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Beijing Ducks. Sturgeons made 21-of-27 charity shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Strangely Beijing Ducks outrebounded Sturgeons 52-33 including 18 on the offensive glass. Beijing Ducks were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American point guard Ty Lawson (180-87, college: UNC) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 5 rebounds, 13 assists and 4 steals. The former international Zhelin Wang (214-94) contributed with 27 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Taiwanese-American point guard Jeremy Lin (190-88, college: Harvard) answered with 28 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and Nigerian-American power forward Ekpe Udoh (208-87, college: Baylor) added 25 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks in the effort for Beijing Ducks. Five Sturgeons and four Beijing Ducks players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Sturgeons maintains seventeenth place with 4-12 record. Beijing Ducks at the other side keep the third position with five games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Sturgeons will play against higher ranked Leopards (#11) in Shenzhen in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Beijing Ducks will play on the road against Sharks (#15) in Shanghai and hope to get back on the winning track.
