Regular Season Round 19: KTP Basket - Korihait 99-84

Very expected game when 12th ranked Korihait (3-15) lost to sixth ranked KTP Basket (10-8) in Kotka 84-99. Korihait was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. KTP Basket made 22-of-28 charity shots (78.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Korihait turnovers. Strangely Korihait outrebounded KTP Basket 40-27 including a 13-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. 25 personal fouls committed by Korihait helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Cullen Russo (206-94, college: Fresno St.) fired 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Guard Byron Wesley (196-92, college: Gonzaga) chipped in 18 points. Power forward Jalen Henry (204-96, college: SIUE) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Trey Zeigler (196-91, college: TCU) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five KTP Basket and four Korihait players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. KTP Basket moved-up to fourth place. Korihait lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. KTP Basket's next round opponent will be Ura Basket (#11) in Kaarina and are hoping to win another game. Korihait will play at home against Kauhajoki and hope to win that game.
