Very expected game when 13th ranked Amyntas D. (2-8) lost to fifth ranked Psychiko (7-4) in Athens 59-76 on Saturday. Psychiko outrebounded Amyntas D. 44-31 including 35 on the defensive glass. Forward Nikolaos Papanikolaou (209-85) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Swingman Antonis Mantzaris (193-86) contributed with 19 points and 6 assists for the winners. Four Psychiko players scored in double figures. Power forward Stelios Halaris (207-93) answered with 8 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Panagiotis Koukounias (201-88) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Amyntas D.Amyntas D.'s coach Alexis Zavos rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the third consecutive win for Psychiko. They maintain fifth place with 7-4 record. Loser Amyntas D. dropped to the bottom position with eight games lost. Psychiko will face higher ranked Apollon P. (#4) in Patra in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Amyntas D.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Dafni.
