There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Gijon Basket (5-5) was outleveled by ninth ranked La Antigua (4-6) in Salamanca 105-71 on Saturday. La Antigua shot 64.2 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 66.7 percentage. It was a very good performance for Serbian center Miroslav Jaksic (211-95, college: Oklah.Christian) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Bosnian Sandro Gacic (201-96) contributed with 21 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four La Antigua players scored in double figures. Forward Fernando Fernandez (201-89, college: Hannibal-LG, agency: Dynamics Global Management) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and guard Alejandro Rubiera (190-98) added 21 points in the effort for Gijon Basket. La Antigua moved-up to eighth place in Group A-B, which they share with Estudiantes L. and Univ.Valladolid. Loser Gijon Basket dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. La Antigua will face higher ranked Chantada (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
