Regular Season Round 12: Marghera - Carugate 49-52

Bottom-ranked Marghera (0-11) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 52-49 loss to sixth ranked Carugate (7-4) in Venezia on Saturday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Marghera's 20. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Giulia Maffenini (175-92, agency: Two Points) who helped to win the game recording 9 points and 10 rebounds and power forward Veronica Schieppati (185-90) who added 8 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was naturalized Argentinian Gisel Villarruel (173-95) with 15 points and 7 rebounds and Chiara Grattini scored 13 points. Marghera's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Carugate moved-up to fifth place in A2. Loser Marghera still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Carugate will meet at home Sarcedo (#7) in the next round. Marghera will play against the league's second-placed Team Crema (#2) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
