There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Almeria (6-5) outplayed at home 4th placed Benahavis (6-5) 81-59 on Sunday. Almeria forced 20 Benahavis turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Almeria made 7 blocks. Quite impressive performance for forward Joaquin Reyes (196-96) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Luis Rueda (186-96) contributed with 12 points and 6 assists for the winners. Almeria's coach Jose Gonzalez felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Javier Meras (194-82) answered with 15 points and 8 rebounds and guard Germinal Cabrita (188-86) added 7 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Benahavis. Almeria moved-up to fourth place in Group D-A, which they share with La Zubia and Benahavis. Almeria will face La Zubia (#4) on the road in the next round. Benahavis will play against the league's leader CAM E.Soler and hope to win that game.
