Regular Season Round 22: Toyoda Gosei - Aisin AW 80-48

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Aichi: Toyoda Gosei (#2) and Aisin AW (#3). Toyoda Gosei (17-5) smashed visiting Aisin AW (14-8) by 32 points 80-48. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Aisin AW. Toyoda Gosei dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Aisin AW's 24. Toyoda Gosei forced 20 Aisin AW turnovers. American JD Weatherspoon (198-92, college: Toledo) notched a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and the other American import Luke Evans (203-91, college: CBU) supported him with 8 points and 9 rebounds. Even 11 points by Kenshin Urabe (188-95) did not help to save the game for Aisin AW. Point guard Yuki Ishihara (180-91) added 8 points and 4 assists for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyoda Gosei maintains second position with 17-5 record behind leader Iwate Big Bulls. Aisin AW at the other side keeps the third place with eight games lost. Toyoda Gosei will play against Tokyo HT (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Aisin AW will play against Shizuoka (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
