The most shocking disappointment of round 10 in the Serie A1 was a home defeat of 3rd ranked Lucca (7-3) by fourth ranked Venezia (8-2) who outscored them by 16 points 88-72 in the game for the third place. It ended the five-game winning streak of Lucca. Venezia shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Latvian center Anete Steinberga (190-90, college: UTEP, agency: LBM Management) scored 18 points and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international point guard Debora Carangelo (169-92) chipped in 21 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Venezia players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Chucky Jeffery (178-91, college: Colorado) responded with 22 points and 9 rebounds and Ghanian-American forward Batabe Zempare (178-94, college: CSU Bakersfield, agency: LBM Management) scored 20 points. Venezia moved-up to third place. Lucca at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with San Martino. Venezia are looking forward to face Vigarano (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Lucca will play against Bologna (#13) and is hoping to win this game.
