Regular Season Round 9: Giannena - Sporting 69-74

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Giannena (3-6) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Sporting (5-4) 74-69. The game was dominated by American players. It was a good game for power forward Stephanie Kostowicz (188-95, college: Milwaukee, agency: Interperformances) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Ariana Moorer (172-91, college: Virginia) contributed with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Four Sporting players scored in double figures. Guard Brandy Montgomery (178-95, college: Auburn) answered with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Acheil Tac (188-93, college: N.Texas) added 19 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Giannena. Sporting maintains fifth place with 5-4 record, which they share with PAOK. Newly promoted Giannena keeps the ninth position with six games lost. Sporting will play against Kronos AD (#10) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Giannena will play against Niki Lefkadas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
