Regular Season Round 11: PeU-Basket - Namika Lr 99-80

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Namika Lr (4-7) was outleveled by third ranked PeU-Basket (9-2) in Pernio 99-80 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by PeU-Basket. Namika Lr was better in third quarter 26-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Namika Lr 48-35 including a 43-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. PeU-Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American forward Trenton Thompson (198-96, college: Asbury) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds. Point guard Taneli Lindstrom (184-1) contributed with 8 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists for the winners. American point guard Aubrey Conerly (182-83, college: Jacksonville) answered with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Atte Valtonen (186-96) added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Namika Lr. Five Namika Lr players scored in double figures. PeU-Basket maintains third place in Division with 9-2 record having just two points less than leader Tapiolan Honka. Newly promoted Namika Lr keeps the eighth position with seven games lost. PeU-Basket will face Karkkila (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Namika Lr will play against the league's second-placed Raholan Pyrkiva in Tampere and hope to win that game.
