There was no surprise in Vimpeli where 9th ranked ViVe (3-11) was defeated by second ranked Peli-Karhut (12-1) 92-81. The game was mostly controlled by Peli-Karhut. ViVe was better in second period 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded ViVe 47-32 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Peli-Karhut players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American forward Zykera Rice (185, college: Gonzaga) nailed a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and naturalized Russian power forward Elena Melto (184-86) accounted for 22 points and 14 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Four Peli-Karhut players scored in double figures. American swingman Amy Griffin (183-96, college: La Salle) came up with 32 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import forward Jamee Swan (188-94, college: Colorado) added 17 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals respectively for ViVe in the defeat. Peli-Karhut have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Kouvot. ViVe at the other side keeps the ninth place with 11 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
