Date: December 15, 2019
Very expected game when 9th ranked Almeria (4-6) lost at home to fourth ranked Gran Canaria (8-3) 70-62 on Sunday. Gran Canaria dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Almeria's 28. Mali power forward Sika Kone (190-2) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 17 rebounds. American guard Sparkle Taylor (178-95, college: UTEP) contributed with 23 points and 4 steals for the winners. Point guard Isabel Latorre (170-96) answered with 15 points and 5 rebounds and Argentinian power forward Ornella Santana (183-90) added 9 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Almeria. The victory was the third consecutive win for Gran Canaria. They moved-up to second place in Group B, which they share with Barca CBS and Ardoi. Loser Almeria keeps the ninth position with six games lost. Gran Canaria will face UCAM Jairis (#8) in Alcantarilla in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Almeria will play against Ardoi and hope to win that game.
