No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Zilina (8-8) beat bottom-ranked Rieker KN (3-13) in Komarno 77-72 on Sunday. American guard Doug Wiggins (185-88, college: Mountain St.) notched 18 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) to lead the effort and Jakub Meress (200-96) supported him with 13 points. Zilina's coach Ivan Kurilla used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even a double-double of 23 points and 19 rebounds by American forward Miles Bowman-Jr (198-93, college: High Point) did not help to save the game for Rieker KN. His fellow American import forward Austin Williams (203-94, college: Drexel) added 14 points and 12 rebounds. Four Rieker KN players scored in double figures. Zilina maintains fifth position with 8-8 record. Rieker KN lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 13 games lost. Zilina will meet at home Nova Ves (#8) in the next round. Rieker KN will play against the league's second-placed Lucenec and hope to secure a win.
