Regular Season Round 13: Vigevano - Varese Robur 93-59

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Varese Robur (4-9) was outleveled on the road by seventh ranked Vigevano (7-6) 93-59 on Sunday. Vigevano dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Varese Robur's 22. They outrebounded Varese Robur 40-23 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Vigevano looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Varese Robur's players. Quite impressive performance for power forward Giacomo DellAgnello (199-94) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 5 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Power forward Giacomo Filippini (204-91) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Vigevano players scored in double figures. The former international forward Marco Allegretti (204-81) answered with 13 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Riccardo Ballabio (181-98) added 14 points in the effort for Varese Robur. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Vigevano maintains seventh place with 7-6 record, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Varese Robur keeps the eleventh position with nine games lost. Vigevano will face higher ranked Omnia Basket (#5) in Pavia in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Varese Robur will play at home against Crema (#15) and hope to win that game.
