Regular Season Round 16: Xinjiang FT - Shandong GS 107-116

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Xinjiang FT (12-4) against eighth ranked Golden Stars (10-7) on Sunday night. Host Xinjiang FT was defeated by Golden Stars in a tough game in Urumqi 107-116. Golden Stars made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Golden Stars made 7 blocks. The winners were led by American Lester Hudson (190-84, college: UT Martin) who scored that evening 39 points (!!!), 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals (made all of his seven free throws) and Central African-American power forward James Mays (205-86, college: Clemson) supported him with 27 points and 12 rebounds. Golden Stars' coach Aleksandar Kesar used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 35 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) by American forward Eric Mika (208-95, college: BYU) did not help to save the game for Xinjiang FT. The former international guard LingXu Zeng (193-87) added 15 points, 6 rebounds and 12 assists for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Golden Stars have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain eighth position with 10-7 record, which they share with Beijing RF. Loser Xinjiang FT keeps the second place with four games lost. Golden Stars will meet Blue Whales (#18) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Xinjiang FT will play against Bayi Rockets (#20) in Ningbo and hope to secure a win.
