Very important is a road loss of second ranked Nishinomiya S. (16-10) against sixth ranked Koshigaya A. (7-19) on Sunday night. Visiting Nishinomiya S. was defeated by Koshigaya A. in a tough game in Tokyo 79-83. Koshigaya A. made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. American power forward Alex Stepheson (208-87, college: USC) notched a double-double by scoring 21 points and 20 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Charles Hinkle (198-88, college: American) supported him with 22 points and 5 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Even 28 points and 8 rebounds by American center Brad Waldow (208-91, college: St.Mary's, CA, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Nishinomiya S.. Swingman Naoki Tani (193-88) added 13 points and 5 assists for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Koshigaya A. maintains sixth position with 7-19 record, which they share with Fukuoka R. and Yamagata. Nishinomiya S. lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the second place with ten games lost. Koshigaya A. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Nishinomiya S. will play at home against Fukushima and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
