Regular Season Round 9: Perth - Melbourne 68-66

Date: December 15, 2019
The most exciting game of round 9 in the WNBL took place in Perth. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of second-best Boomers (9-3) to seventh ranked Perth Lynx (4-8) 68-66 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. American swingman Alison Schwagmeyer (177-90, college: Quincy) stepped up and scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and international Katie-Rae Ebzery (177-90) chipped in 16 points. Four Perth Lynx players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international center Cayla George (192-89) with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and international power forward Eziyoda Magbegor (176-99) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Boomers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Perth Lynx moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Sydney Uni. Boomers at the other side keep the second position with three games lost. Perth Lynx is looking forward to face Townsville Fire (#7) on the road in the next round. Boomers will play against Adelaide Lightning (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
