Regular Season Round 15: CD Castro - CD Puerto Varas 63-92

Very important is a home loss of second ranked CD Castro (9-7) against fifth ranked CD Puerto Varas (9-8) on Monday night. Host CD Castro was crushed by CD Puerto Varas in Castro 92-63. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of CD Castro. They outrebounded CD Castro 40-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Che Bob (198-97, college: Colorado St.) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Patricio Arroyo (185-96) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). Worth to mention Bob played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. Four CD Puerto Varas players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Cedric Blossom (198-94, college: Morgan St.) who recorded 20 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import forward Mike Poole (196-92, college: Iona) added 12 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. CD Puerto Varas moved-up to fourth place. Loser CD Castro dropped to the third position with seven games lost. CD Puerto Varas will face league's second-placed Deportivo Valdivia on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. CD Castro will play against AB Ancud and hope to win that game.
