Second Stage Round 3: Borisfen - Tsmoki-Minsk R. 86-81

The game between Top Four teams took place in Mogilev. host COR-Borisfen (10-1) defeated Tsmoki-Minsk R. (7-4) 86-81. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Tsmoki-Minsk R. won third quarter 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. COR-Borisfen forced 20 Tsmoki-Minsk R. turnovers. The best player for the winners was American guard Brian Starr (190-96, college: Towson) who scored 23 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals. Jamaican-Canadian forward Devin Johnson (196-94, college: Toronto) chipped in 22 points and 5 rebounds. Starr is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four COR-Borisfen players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Uladzislau Blizniuk (183-99) who recorded 26 points and 7 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and center Vadzim Stubeda (205-0) added 17 points and 6 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. COR-Borisfen will meet at home Rubon (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Tsmoki-Minsk R. will play against Grodno-93 and hope to secure a win.
