Everything could happen in Guangzhou at the game between two tied teams. Both sixteenth ranked Sturgeons and 17th ranked Long-Lions had identical 5-12 record. But Long-Lions were not able to use a home court advantage and were rolled over by the opponent from Jinjiang 122-103. Sturgeons made 21-of-26 charity shots (80.8 percent) during the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Long-Lions helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American point guard Ty Lawson (180-87, college: UNC) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists. The former international Zhelin Wang (214-94) contributed with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Five Sturgeons players scored in double figures. Canadian Andrew Nicholson (206-89, college: St.Bonaventure) answered with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and American point guard Keifer Sykes (183-93, college: Green Bay, agency: Pensack Sports) added 20 points and 5 assists in the effort for Long-Lions. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sturgeons have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Shanghai S. Long-Lions lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the seventeenth position with 13 games lost. Sturgeons' next round opponent will be higher ranked Jilin Tigers (#5) in Changchun and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Long-Lions will play on the road against Jiangsu Dragons (#13) in Nanjing and hope to win that game.
