Very important is a home loss of second ranked Sao Paulo (10-4) against eleventh ranked Rio Claro (7-9) on Tuesday night. Host Sao Paulo was defeated by Rio Claro in Sao Paulo 106-95. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Sao Paulo. Rio Claro made 21-of-22 charity shots (95.5 percent) during the game. Rio Claro's coach Fernando Penna used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 31 points and 4 steals by naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF) did not help to save the game for Sao Paulo. The former international point guard Georginho de-Paula (195-96) added 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Rio Claro moved-up to tenth place. Sao Paulo at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Rio Claro's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Pato Basquete (#16) where they are favorite.
