The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Raptors as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Raptors defeated 4th placed Wizards in Toronto 122-118. Raptors made 34-of-44 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. 28 personal fouls committed by Wizards helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Point guard Kyle Lowry (183-86, college: Villanova) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points and 9 assists. Point guard Fred VanVleet (183-94, college: Wichita St.) contributed with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Bradley Beal (196-93, college: Florida) answered with 37 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 6 assists and point guard Ishmael Smith (183-88, college: Wake Forest) added 26 points (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) in the effort for Wizards. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Wizards' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Raptors have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Wizards at the other side keep the fourth place with 19 games lost. Wizards will play next day against strong 76ers trying to get back on the winning streak. Raptors will have a break next day, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
