Everything went according to plan when first ranked Nuggets (19-8) defeated 5th ranked Timberwolves (10-17) in Denver 109-100 on Friday. Nuggets looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Serbian center Nikola Jokic (209-95, agency: BeoBasket) orchestrated the victory with a triple-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Canadian swingman Jamal Murray (198-97, college: Kentucky) contributed with 28 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winners. Canadian guard Andrew Wiggins (203-95, college: Kansas) answered with 19 points and 6 assists and Senegalese center Gorgui Dieng (211-90, college: Louisville) added 18 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Timberwolves. Five Nuggets and four Timberwolves players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Nuggets. They maintain first place with 19-8 record. Timberwolves lost their ninth game in a row. They keep the fifth position with 17 games lost. Nuggets will have a break next day. Timberwolves will play on the road against Trail Blazers (#4) in Portland and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
