Regular Season Round 18: Shanghai S. - Bayi R. 106-93

Rather predictable result in Shanghai where sixteenth ranked Sharks (7-12) beat bottom-ranked Bayi Rockets (1-18) 106-93 on Friday. Sharks dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Bayi Rockets' 50. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Bayi Rockets' players. The best player for the winners was Lithuanian power forward Donatas Motiejunas (213-90) who had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 22 rebounds. Point guard Wang Tong (183-82) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Four Sharks players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international center Hao Fu (206-97) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds and forward Azat Aersilan (201-96) added 18 points respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Sharks moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Fujian S. Bayi Rockets lost thirteenth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 18 lost games. Sharks will face league's second-placed Xinjiang FT in Urumqi in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Bayi Rockets will play at home against Monkey Kings (#13) and hope to win that game.
