Regular Season Round 15: Pato Basquete - Rio Claro 80-78

Pato Basquete's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after 12 consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they edged much higher ranked Rio Claro (6-9) 80-78 on Friday. Pato Basquete made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. It was a good game for guard Luis-Gustavo de-Oliveira (190-91) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Augusto Leao (184-98) contributed with 19 points and 4 assists for the winners. The former international power forward Gerson Santo (206-91, college: Colorado St.) answered with 18 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and American Walter Baxley (193-84, college: Mars Hill) added 22 points in the effort for Rio Claro. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Pato Basquete maintains sixteenth place with 1-12 record. Rio Claro at the other side keeps the eleventh position with nine games lost. Pato Basquete are looking forward to face higher ranked Sao Paulo (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rio Claro will have a break next round.
