Regular Season Round 15: Le Portel - Monaco 60-83

Very expected game when 18th ranked Le Portel (3-12) was smashed at home by third ranked Monaco (11-2) 83-60 on Friday. Monaco outrebounded Le Portel 40-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Norris Cole (188-88, college: Cleveland St.) who led the winners and scored 17 points. International Yakuba Ouattara (192-92, agency: BeoBasket) accounted for 18 points for the winning side. Belgian-Congolese point guard Jonathan Tabu (189-85) came up with 16 points and swingman Pierre-Etienne Drouault (196-90) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Le Portel in the defeat. Le Portel's coach Eric Girard gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Monaco. They maintain third place with 11-2 record having four points less than leader ASVEL. Le Portel lost their fourth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Monaco will meet at home JL Bourg (#6) in the next round. Le Portel will play against Chalons-Reims (#11) and hope to secure a win.
