Regular Season Round 13: 36ers - Hawks 84-93

Bottom-ranked Illawarra Hawks managed to get a fourth victory on Friday night. This time they won against fourth-ranked Adelaide 36ers in Findon 93-84. They outrebounded Adelaide 36ers 41-27 including 16 on the offensive glass. Illawarra Hawks looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international center AJ Ogilvy (211-88, college: Vanderbilt) nailed 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and guard Sunday Dech (196-94, college: Barry) accounted for 18 points. Four Illawarra Hawks players scored in double figures. Ukrainian-American point guard Jerome Randle (175-87, college: California) came up with 26 points and 6 assists and the former international power forward Daniel Johnson (212-88, college: Pepperdine) added 19 points respectively for Adelaide 36ers in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Illawarra Hawks maintains ninth place with 4-12 record. Loser Adelaide 36ers keep the fourth position with nine games lost. They share it with Taipans. Illawarra Hawks will meet higher ranked Melbourne Phoenix (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Adelaide 36ers will play against New Zealand Breakers and hope to secure a win.
