Regular Season Round 12: Ifestos - Iraklis 79-65

Everything went according to plan in Keratsiniou where seventh ranked Ifestos (7-5) beat 9th ranked Iraklis (5-7) 79-65 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 36-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Ifestos forced 20 Iraklis turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American Sean Evans (203-88, college: St.John's) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds and guard Dimitrios Stamatis (192-96) who added 18 points during the contest. Four Ifestos players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American Jamal Shuler (191-86, college: VCU) with 20 points and 5 rebounds and the former international center Vasileios Kavvadas (205-91) scored 8 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ifestos moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Ionikos Nikaias. Newly promoted Iraklis dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. Ifestos will face higher ranked Peristeri GS (#3) in Athens in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Iraklis' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Thessaloniki PAOK.
