Regular Season Round 27: Ibaraki R. - Ehime OV 72-65

There was a small surprise in Tsukuba where third ranked Ibaraki R. (14-13) won against their close opponent Orange Vikings (15-12) 72-65 on Saturday. They outrebounded Orange Vikings 49-34 including 36 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American power forward Alex Jones (206-87, college: Seattle) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 22 rebounds. Nigerian forward Daniel Ochefu (211-93, college: Villanova) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 15 rebounds and 4 assists and American-Irish forward Brian Voelkel (196-92, college: Vermont) added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Ibaraki R. have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain third place with 14-13 record having four points less than leader Shinshu BW which they share with defeated Orange Vikings. Loser Orange Vikings keep the third position with 12 games lost. Ibaraki R. will face again Orange Vikings (#3) in Matsuyama in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
