Regular Season Round 14: Niigata R. - Denso Iris 58-75

Bottom-ranked Niigata R. (0-13) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 75-58 loss to fifth ranked Denso Iris (7-4) in Tokyo. They made 21-of-23 charity shots (91.3 percent) during the game. Denso Iris outrebounded Niigata R. 46-34 including a 21-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international center Sakura Akaho (182-96) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. International center Himawari Akaho (184-98) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Ayumi Chiba (167-96) replied with 15 points and power forward Shihorei Tsuda (168-92) added 6 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Niigata R.Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Denso Iris maintains fifth position with 7-4 record. Niigata R. at the other side still closes the standings with 13 games lost. Denso Iris will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Niigata R. will play again on the road against Denso Iris (#5) in Kariya and hopes to get finally their first victory.
