Regular Season Round 13: Hawks - Breakers 89-91

The game between closely ranked teams ended with eighth ranked New Zealand Breakers' (6-10) road victory over bottom-ranked Illawarra Hawks (4-12) in Gwynneville 91-89 on Sunday. Quite impressive performance for American swingman Scotty Hopson (200-89, college: Tennessee) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. American-Jamaican guard Sek Henry (193-87, college: Nebraska) contributed with 21 points and 6 assists for the winners. Four New Zealand Breakers players scored in double figures. International guard Emmett Naar (185-94, college: St.Mary's, CA) answered with 17 points and 8 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and the former international center AJ Ogilvy (211-88, college: Vanderbilt) added 18 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Illawarra Hawks. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. New Zealand Breakers maintains eighth place with 6-10 record. Loser Illawarra Hawks stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. New Zealand Breakers will face higher ranked Adelaide 36ers (#5) in Findon in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Illawarra Hawks will play on the road against Melbourne Phoenix (#6) in Melbourne, Victoria and hope to win that game.
