Regular Season Round 24: Tokyo HT - Toyoda Gosei 64-88

The game in Tokyo supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Toyoda Gosei (18-6) played at the court of 7th ranked Tokyo HT (12-13). Toyoda Gosei smashed Tokyo HT 88-64 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Tokyo HT. Toyoda Gosei shot 65.4 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Toyoda Gosei especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 76.9 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American JD Weatherspoon (198-92, college: Toledo) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Eiji Sumihiro (171-89) who added 17 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Toyoda Gosei's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Burkinabe center Niyokwizera Yves (200-93) with 10 points and 8 rebounds and American center Shaquille Morris (203-94, college: Wichita St.) scored 14 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Toyoda Gosei maintains second position with 18-6 record having just two points less than leader Iwate Big Bulls. Loser Tokyo HT keeps the seventh place with 13 games lost. Toyoda Gosei will meet at home Okayama (#5) in the next round. Tokyo HT will play against the league's leader Iwate Big Bulls and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the B2 League just one year after relegation.
