Hapoel Holon (#4) was upset in Haifa by eighth ranked Maccabi Haifa 92-60. Maccabi Haifa outrebounded Hapoel Holon 43-26 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American swingman James Young (198-95, college: Kentucky) fired 32 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Venezuelan point guard Gregory Vargas (180-86, agency: Pro Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points, 5 rebounds and 14 assists. Maccabi Haifa's coach Daniel Seoane felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Marcus Foster (190-95, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) produced 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import forward Ryan Thompson (198-88, college: Rider, agency: BeoBasket) added 14 points respectively for lost side. Maccabi Haifa (5-6) moved-up to sixth place. Loser Hapoel Holon dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Maccabi Haifa will meet at home Ironi Nahariya (#7) in the next round. Hapoel Holon will play against the league's second-placed Hapoel Jerusalem and hope to secure a win.
