Regular Season Round 23: Chiba J. - Yokohama BC 111-74

The game between second ranked Yokohama BC (7-15) and fourth ranked Chiba J. (15-8) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Yokohama BC unexpectedly was crushed by in Chiba 74-111. Chiba J. dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Yokohama BC's 36. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: UConn) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Naturalized American forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) contributed with 20 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Chiba J. players scored in double figures. American forward James Southerland (203-90, college: Syracuse) answered with 26 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized American power forward Edward Morris (204-84, college: Pittsburg St.) added 8 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Yokohama BC. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Chiba J. have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Hitachi SRT. Yokohama BC lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the third position with 15 games lost. Chiba J. is looking forward to face league's leader Tochigi B. on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Yokohama BC will play against San-en NeoPhoenix and is hoping to win this game.
